“Community safety is my top priority. Law enforcement under my leadership will be aggressive and strategic. We’ll take the fight to the criminals, and we’ll be present in our neighborhoods, schools, and community groups to help stop crime before it starts.”
District Attorney Brian Gallagher
District Attorney Brian Gallagher is taking bold action to address the growing threats of gang activity and gun violence in Lackawanna County. With a clear and aggressive strategy, DA Gallagher is focused on protecting our neighborhoods, holding violent offenders accountable, and keeping our communities safe.
“Our mission is clear: we are not going to tolerate violent crime. We are committed to dismantling gang operations and taking illegal guns off the streets,” said Gallagher
Since taking office, DA Gallagher has worked alongside local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to crack down on illegal firearms trafficking, strengthen prosecutions of repeat offenders, and increase the presence of law enforcement in high-crime areas. His administration has prioritized intelligence-led investigations and collaborative task forces aimed at rooting out organized criminal groups that prey on Lackawanna County communities.

“We’ve made gang and gun violence a top priority,” he said. “We are sending a message—if you threaten the safety of our residents, you will face swift and aggressive prosecution.”
Under Gallagher’s leadership, the DA’s Office has increased support for victims, expanded community outreach, and invested in early-intervention programs to help steer at-risk youth away from gang influence. These efforts reflect Gallagher’s belief that law enforcement alone is not enough — public safety also depends on prevention and trust.
“We’re not just reacting,” he said. “We’re building a long-term strategy that involves law enforcement, schools, families, and community leaders. Public safety is our number one responsibility, and my promise is to pursue it with integrity, determination and results.”
DA Gallagher’s message to violent offenders is unequivocal: Lackawanna County will not be a safe haven for guns, gangs, or fear. With every case prosecuted, every illegal firearm seized, and every life protected, DA Gallagher is fighting for the future of this community — and he’s just getting started.
